Creating Brands was founded in October, 2002...

Because design agencies have evolved into professional creators of visual brand concepts. And because they have a unique, indispensable quality: design agencies are the pre-eminent party to truly shape a brand.

Because the positioning of the design sector lags behind where the true qualities are concerned. This affects the position of the agencies and the sector.

Because design agencies do not appear in the world of branding as much as they should. This can be seen in for instance the communication trade press, on seminars, etc.

Because the lines between advertising agencies, communication agencies and design agencies are blurring. Old divisions are disintegrating. Branding specialists, advertising agencies and design agencies meet in competitions. This trend will continue.

Because design is increasingly becoming an integrated part of brand and communication strategy. The demand for pure, solitary design products remains, but the demand of the client usually has a broader background.

Because almost every design agency has formulated its own answer to the broadening and deepening trend, or is in the process of doing so.

Because, in the end, it’s the responsibility of individual agencies to build a reputation, but support from a joint BNO effort is desirable and useful.
